The 5th UK Rasch User Group Meeting

We are delighted to announce that the 5th UK Rasch User Group meeting will be hosted by Dr Qingping He of Ofqual.

The date is Wednesday 26th Jan 2011 and the provisional location is the Warwick University Conference Centre.

More details will be made available in due course.

Make sure you note the date for your diaries!

Online Educational Research Journal

Peter Tymms would like to bring to your attention the new Online Educational Research Journal that he has founded along with Dr Sean McCusker, Dr Richard Remedios and Carole Anderson. The aim of the journal is to provide immediacy, openness and specificity with all of the elements of a traditional peer-reviewed journal but also the features of modern internet communication.

 For Rasch users the forthcoming article by Mike Linacre,

“Transition Categories and Usefully Disordered Thresholds” should prove an interesting starting point. Here is some suggested pre-reading on disordered thresholds:

Meeting of the 4th UK Rasch Users Group, January 2010

Many thanks to Tim Croudace from The Psychometrics Centre who hosted the successul fourth meeting of the user group.  The programme included contributions from Evelina Galaczi from Cambridge ESOL, Gunter Maris from CITO in the Netherlands, Peterr Tymms, John Little and John Tiffin from the University of Durham, Chris Wheadon from AQA, Sarah Muller from the University of Manchester and Tim Croudace from the University of Cambridge. Some of the slides provided by the participants are now available in the presentations section
